Rajasthan Royals has had one of the best squads over the last 3 seasons. It’s a pity that they haven’t won a single IPL title during this time. For this time around, (RR) have announced their retention strategy, focusing on maintaining a strong core of experienced and promising players. The franchise seems to have decided to retain three key players: skipper Sanju Samson, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, and all-rounder Riyan Parag.
Rajasthan Royals Possible Retentions
- Sanju Samson: The captain of RR, Samson has been in stellar form, recently scoring a blazing cenuty against Bangladesh in a T20I in Hyderabad. His leadership and explosive batting make him an invaluable asset for the team.
- Yashasvi Jaiswal: Despite not having his best IPL season in 2024, Jaiswal managed to score 435 runs, showcasing his consistency and potential. The 22-year-old opener is expected to thrive under the guidance of Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach.
- Riyan Parag: Parag had an impressive IPL 2024, scoring 573 runs in 15 matches and playing a pivotal role in several crucial matches. His bowling skills have also been on display in national colors, making him a valuable all-rounder for RR.
Right-to-Match (RTM) Card
RR is also planning to use their Right-to-Match (RTM) card on experienced spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been a consistent performer since joining the franchise in IPL 2022. Chahal took 18 wickets in IPL 2024, and his retention will provide RR with a reliable spin option.
Building for the Future
With the return of one and only, the calm and composed Rahul Dravid, India’s former 2024 T20 World Cup-winning coach, and a former Rajasthan Royals player, expectations are high for RR to secure their second IPL title1. Dravid and Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara are focused on building a team that can compete at the highest level.
The official list of retained players will be announced by October 31, and fans eagerly await confirmation of RR’s plans for the upcoming season.
