Team India has been completely bamboozled by the Ajaz Patel and co to suffer an embarrassing 3-0 defeat.
New Zealand has created history and this is surely their best Test series victory of their history. The Kiwis became the first ever team to clean sweep India at their home soil and gave a signal to other teams that they can win a series on Indian soil. Tom Latham has marked his name in the history books. He led the side brilliantly especially in the absence of the key players like Kane Williamson and Trent Boult.
Team Work of Kiwis
Matt Henry played a crucial role in the victory of the 1st Test and he was rested in the 2nd test. Mitchell Santner stepped up in the 2nd test and won the match for his side but he was rested from the 3rd one and then Ajaz Patel emerged as a hero in the final test. So, New Zealand found a new match winner in each game and their team work resulted in their memorable victory.
Jadeja’s Ten-fer
India started day 3 on high as Jadeja picked the last wicket quickly to wrap up the New Zealand innings on just 174 runs. Ravindra Jadeja claimed his second five-wicket haul in the game. This was the third occasion in his career when Jadeja picked 10 wickets in a match. India has a target of just 147 runs that seemed like a walk in the park for an experienced and talented Indian batting unit. However, Ajaz Patel has other plans.
India came to chase down 14 runs and their top-order once again failed badly. Rohit Sharma’s bad patch continued as he scored just 11 runs. The star of the innings Shubman Gill was cleaned up by Ajaz Patel on just 1 run. Every Indian fan was cheering for Virat Kohli to save them in another tense chase but he also left the crease after scoring 1 run. In the next two overs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfraz khan dismissals left India in all sorts of trouble at 28-5.
Rishab Pant’s fightback
Rishab Pant gave huge hopes to the Indian fans by counter attacking Ajaz Patel. He didn’t allow the pressure to affect his style of play and scored runs freely. Everything was going well for India until Pant was dismissed in a controversial style. Ther will be a lot of talks about his dismissal that whether his bat hit the ball of or the pad. But the result is that he had to leave the crease when the score was 106-6. Pant scored a blistering knock of 64 runs off just 57 balls including 9 fours and a six.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar tried to build up a little partnership but it didn’t last long as Glenn Phillips picked two back-to back wickets to end the Indian hopes. Ajaz Patel ended the proceedings by picking the last Indian wicket of Washington Sundar. The men in blue were bowled out on 121 runs resulting in a 26 runs victory for the Kiwis.
Ajaz Patel Heroics in his Home City
Ajaz Patel has just played 2 tests in the city of his birth Mumbai and he seemed to love bowling here. He has already picked 3 five wickets haul here and in both games he grabbed more than 10 wickets. He registered a wonderful 6-wicket haul in the 4th innings and played the key role in dismissing India on just 121 runs.
New Zealand won the last test and claimed the series by 3-0. They have created history and this achievement of New Zealand cricket will be remembered for a long time. This month was a great success for the black caps as their women team won the T20 World Cup while the men’s team won a Test series in India.
