AUS vs IND 1st TEST, DAY 3: Kohli’s Century, Bumrah’s Strikes Put India on Top

AUS vs IND: Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball on Day 3 in Perth. Australia ended the day struggling at 12/3. Usman Khawaja (3*) remained unbeaten as the hosts faced a daunting task. Bumrah dismissed Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne. Mohammed Siraj added to the damage by removing nightwatchman Pat Cummins.

India needs just seven more wickets to seal a 1-0 lead. Australia still requires 522 runs, with two full days left. Earlier, India dominated with the bat. They declared at 487/6 in their second innings. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 100*, marking his 30th Test century. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star performer with a brilliant 161.

Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of six Test hundreds in Australia. He now holds the record with seven centuries Down Under.

The Perth pitch, tricky on Day 1, seemed easier for India. But it once again troubled the Australian batters. India’s bowlers had just 27 minutes before stumps. Bumrah and Siraj made the most of it. They tore through Australia’s top order. With a massive lead and momentum on their side, India looks set for victory. Day 4 could see them clinch the series opener in style.
