Erik ten Hag Dismissed as Manchester United Manager

Manchester United has made a major change by letting go of head coach Erik ten Hag. This decision comes after a series of disappointing performances and growing pressure from both fans and club officials. Ten Hag, who was hired with high hopes, couldn’t deliver the results everyone expected, leading to his dismissal.

The club’s board informed the Dutchman of their decision on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after their defeat by West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In an official statement, Manchester United thanked ten Hag for his hard work and dedication. The club said,

“Manchester United confirms that Erik ten Hag has left his role as head coach. We thank Erik for his dedication and hard work during his time with us and wish him success in the future.”

In his tenure, Ten Haag won two trophies namely the Carabao cup in 2023 and the FA cup in 2024.

Why Was Erik ten Hag Sacked?

Manchester United’s poor start to the season left them 14th in the Premier League table, seven points off the Champions League qualification places. With just three league wins from nine games and only four victories in 14 matches across all competitions, the club’s management felt it was time for a change. United was also bad in Europe sitting in the 21st position in the Europa League.

For now, former United legend and current Assistant Manger Ruud Van Nistelrooy to take over as interim manager.
