India’s 2025 Champions Trophy Jersey: The Indian cricket team has revealed its official jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and one detail has sparked a frenzy—Pakistan’s name printed on the jersey as part of the tournament’s official logo.
India’s 2025 Champions Trophy Jersey
On Monday, February 17, India’s key players, including captain Rohit Sharma, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, and young pacer Arshdeep Singh, showcased the team’s latest kit. The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared images of the Indian squad receiving their ICC awards and donning the new jersey ahead of the tournament.
However, what caught everyone’s attention was the imprint of the host nation, Pakistan, prominently displayed as part of the Champions Trophy emblem on the attire.
ICC Regulations and BCCI’s Confirmation
Leading up to the tournament, speculation arose regarding whether Team India would wear jerseys featuring Pakistan’s imprint, considering the ongoing political tensions between the two nations. Despite the discussions, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the team will comply with ICC regulations, which mandate the inclusion of the host country’s name in the tournament branding.
This marks a rare instance where an Indian jersey includes the name of their arch-rivals. Even during the Asia Cup 2023, which was partly hosted by Pakistan, such branding was absent from the kits.
India’s Squad and Key Updates
The Indian squad for the Champions Trophy is packed with experience and youthful energy. Rohit Sharma will lead the side, with Shubman Gill serving as his deputy. Star batter Virat Kohli, along with wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, adds depth to the batting lineup.
Unfortunately, India will be without pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has been ruled out due to a lower back injury. In his absence, young pacer Harshit Rana has been included as a replacement, while spinner Varun Chakravarthy has also earned a spot following impressive performances in recent T20Is against England.
Meanwhile, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, initially named in the squad, has been moved to the non-traveling reserves following an underwhelming ODI debut against England.
India’s Champions Trophy 2025 Fixtures
India, placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, will begin their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for February 23, followed by a crucial game against New Zealand on March 2.
Due to the hybrid model for the tournament, India will play all its matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan. The opening game of the Champions Trophy will see hosts Pakistan take on New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi.
