Shreyas Iyer Joins Punjab Kings for Record Rs 26.75 Crore

Shreyas Iyer made headlines at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought him for Rs 26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive player in IPL history. This bid broke Mitchell Starc’s previous record.

Fierce Bidding Battle

The bidding for Shreyas Iyer was intense, with Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders also competing.

Iyer has played for Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in the past. He is known for his consistent performances, aggressive batting, and leadership skills. Despite a back injury in 2023, Iyer returned in IPL 2024 and was among the top run-scorers.

What Iyer Brings to Punjab Kings

With Iyer on board, PBKS now has a strong middle-order batter and a potential leader. His ability to handle spin and play aggressively makes him a key player. The team hopes Iyer will boost their chances in the upcoming season.
