New Zealand’s cricket team has received a significant blow ahead of the three-match Test series against India. Tim Southee has resigned from the captaincy of the Test team. The New Zealand Cricket Board announced this on Tuesday. Southee made this decision in order to focus on improving his performance in the game.

Why did Southee resign from the captaincy?

Southee explained why he stepped down from the captaincy, stating, “I have decided to resign for the good of the team. Captaining New Zealand has been incredibly special for me. I have always prioritized the team throughout my career, and I believe this decision is the right one for the team. Now, I can better serve the team by focusing on my performance.”

Latham Appointed as Captain in Place of Southee

New Zealand Cricket has announced the new captain following Tim Southee’s resignation. Tom Latham has been appointed as the new captain. The opening batsman has previously captained the team, having led the Black Caps in nine matches. He will now take charge of the team for the tour of India.
